Fantastic black velvet dress with embroidery crica 1910s
Fantastic black velvet dress with black embroidery all over the bodice and down the sleeves, it also comes with a black silk belt! I would say this dress is from the 1910s and would probably have been worn as a mourning dress as black wasn't a very common colour to wear day to day. The attention to detail on this dress is incredible, there is a layer of black lace that goes all the way up the neck and it has boning around the neck to keep it up and in place. The velvet has not faded and is very thick, everything on this dress is very well-made and I think that Is why it has lasted so long! Found in a French market.
There are a few issues with this dress unsurprisingly, underneath the lace around the neck there was a layer of cream silk but as you can see from the pictures it has basically disintegrated however I think if it was fully taken out it would still look stunning. Lastly there is a tear by the right sleeve, it just needs a sew up.
